The course is divided into four sections, each focusing on a different aspect of the test:
Reading - In this section, you will learn how to effectively read and comprehend academic texts, as well as how to answer various question types.
- Identify question types: true, false, not give, yes, no, not given, matching, locating information, note/table/summary completion (with & without table), multiple choice, label a diagram, flow charts, direct questions.

- Understand academic reading passages
- Skim to get the main idea
- Scan to locate specific information
- Anticipate meaning
- Recognise the writer’s point of view
- Accomplish the required Reading Speed within the time limit
Writing - In this section, you will learn how to write clear and concise academic essays, as well as how to effectively organize and present your ideas.
- Learn how the writing test is evaluated and scored
- Learn how to create a clear strategy for approaching different question types in Task 1 Academic & General Paper (Report/Letter)
- Identify essay question types
- Understand and paraphrase statements for the Essay
- Manage and generate coherent and cohesive paragraphs with clear topic sentences and linking words (logical and grammatical) for tasks 1 and 2.
- Use various appropriate vocabulary for tasks 1 and 2
- Use various collocations and lexical sets appropriately for tasks 1 and 2.
- Dodge common grammatical errors in writing in tasks 1 and 2.
- Illustrate a good control of complex sentence structure in tasks 1 and 2
Listening - In this section, you will learn how to effectively listen to and understand academic lectures and conversations, as well as how to answer various question types.
- Use pre-listening skills to maximize time for listening
- Learn section types 1-4
- Identify question types: note/table completion, multiple choice, matching, label a diagram, flow charts, and direct questions.
- Learn how to create a clear strategy to approach each section and question type
- Forsee and predict possible answers through active reading
- Listen for main ideas
- Listen for specific details
- Take brief notes while listening
- Evaluate answers for spelling and grammatical accuracy
Speaking - In this section, you will learn how to effectively communicate your ideas and opinions in a clear and concise manner, as well as how to structure your answers and respond to various question types.
- Learn how the speaking test is evaluated and scored.
- Expand answers on familiar topic ins part 1.
- Plan & perform the answer in part 2 by using a detailed description within the prescribed time limit.
- Go into extended discussions on questions in part 3.
- Participate in conversational topics fluently and coherently
- Use various vocabulary including collocations and idiomatic language.
- Use a range of standard pronunciation elements such as intonation, stress, and rhythm appropriately and accurately.
- Produce and manage ideas within required time constraints.
